Have you ever wondered how those eBay "pros" always seem to outbid you by just cents at the last minute? Actually, they are beating you in the last seconds. Most do it automatically using a method calling SNIPING.
According to Wikipedia "Auction sniping is the process of watching a timed online auction (such as on eBay) and placing a winning bid at the last possible moment, giving the other bidders no time to outbid the sniper. While some bidders purchase software designed for this purpose, a BID SNIPER is a person or software agent who performs auction sniping."
So, how can you start sniping? It's easy and, while it may be frowned on by some people (the ones who don't know how its done!) it does not break any of the rules established by eBay.
There are many companies out there who do auction sniping for a fee. All you need to do is google "auction sniping" and a long list of sites will pop up.
My favorite site and the one I've been sniping with for YEARS is www.auctionsniper.com Auction Sniper was discovered by PC Magazine as a Top Site back in 2003. The best part about auction sniper is that you are only charged IF you win. The fees are incredibly low too! For winning bids that are under $25 it will cost you a quarter. Between $25 - $995 it costs 1% of the winning bid.
The way these sites work is simple. You provide the company your email address, eBay name and password. Next you submit the item # and your maximum bid. Auctionsniper will submit your bid in the final 5-6 seconds of the auction. If you've been outbid earlier, you will receive an e-mail alert telling you that your bid is too low already and asking you if you want to increase your bid. Keep in mind that you can still lose auctions. There are other snipers out there, as well as regular eBay users who can submit their maximum bids too) and if there is a maximum bid that is higher than yours, well . . . you know how that goes!
Notifications are sent to you whether you win or lose BOTH my auctionsniper AND eBay. You pay for the auction the same way you always have -- through eBay. The sniping site is only involved in the actual snipe.
Still I am a HUGE fan of auction sniping. I haven't had to sit around and watch an auction in years and I win many more than I lose.
So if you're a fan of eBay you might want to give this a try. You will save time and hopefully some money too!
